Tips For Supply Teachers - 05/03/2008
1. Get to the school as early as possible. Obtain all materials required. Find out the locations of important places. Introduce yourself to teachers in nearby classrooms. Go into classroom and scan it for rule charts and evidence of what is going on that term or week. Locate plans left by the teacher. Check out lesson plans, behaviour managment procedures and any individual management procedures for particular kids. Always ask another teacher for clarification of anything that you are unfamiliar with.
Welcome to a New Term - 14/01/2008
Another term, another year. Happy New year to all.
After a week on the piste I seemed to come back a little worse for wear myself, so my apologies for the delay in the New Year wishes.
Substitute! - 14/12/2007
There is no substitute for a substitute!!
As we draw to the end of term we would like to say thank you to all our teachers who have gone that extra mile. Supply teaching is undoubtedly one of the toughest jobs in the teaching profession...coming into a situation in which you might not know the pupils, or where the pupils may see the absence of their teacher as a ′day off′. In the worst case scenario, you are unfamiliar with pupils, routines and behaviour procedures and find no plans!! We are LB Ed feel that this is a one off.
Best case scenario, you are working with a regular school, you are known and have the support of the administration, faculty and pupils. - At LB Ed we aim for this.
The value of substitute teachers can not be overstated. They allow for continuity in instruction and safety for our students while their usual teacher is away. Remember to thank our subs!!! Their job is often thankless: It gives them a warm feeling, but no one notices.
Next term, we are going to begin to compile a ′tips for subs′ . Tips, information and strategies that will increase effectiveness and make their experiences more rewarding for all concerned.

Looking great!! - 21/11/2007
Kingsholm Primary School children were seen proudly wearing their drill tops, sponsored by LB Ed last year, in last weeks citizen. Children from Kingsholm primary have the opportunity to travel to Villarreal Football Club in Spain next March. We will be sponsoring some of the children to go. The trip will provide the chidlren with the opportunity to develop their self-esteem, confidence and attitudes towards health and sport. We are really pleased to have the opportunity to sponsor yet again..
Juggling!! - 22/11/2007
For those of you that may wonder what goes in the LB office, well this morning has been a real juggling act. From 6.45 this morning the phones didn′t stop!! Thankyou to all those teachers this morning who stood by us, changed plans at last notice, and when feeling a little under the weather themselves helped us out. A big thankyou. From juggling to calm, I have finally found time to add to the blog!!
